Canadian Fuels Association: Driving to 2050

The Canadian Fuels Association has announced the release of its vision to the future. Driving to 2050 outlines how liquid transportation fuels will continue to be a critical part of Canada’s energy mix for generations. Given the focus on economic recovery, Canada does not need to start from scratch to build a greener transportation network as the companies that produce and distribute transportation fuels across Canada already use innovation and embrace new technologies as a contribution to Canada’s low-carbon futures.

The Canadian Fuels Association, based in Ottawa, represents Canada’s transportation fuels industry. The members are the companies that process crude oil into essential products like transportation fuels and get those products to market. The sector contributes over $10 billion to Canada’s GDP each year and employs 117,000 Canadians at 15 refineries, 78 fuel distribution terminals and 12,000 retail and commercial sites. One of the prime goals is to help the members meet the environmental policy objectives of government and expectations of Canadians without compromising their access to a secure, reliable and competitively priced fuel supply.
