Oil and Gas Sector’s Role in Global Energy

The positive impact of oil and gas in Canada’s industry

Canada recognizes the importance of delivering reliable, affordable, responsibly produced energy that addresses important social and environmental issues, including climate change. CAPP, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers believes that oil and gas has a critical role to play in the integrated energy systems and is part of the global solution needed to tackle the global climate challenge. Therefore, CAPP will engage in constructive, solutions-focused dialogue with governments and other stakeholders and partners to develop sound policies that achieve global emissions reductions in the most efficient, cost effective way.

CAPP has just published its report about Vision for Canada’s Recovery which highlights the positive potential impact of the industry in creating jobs for Canadians and boosting the country’s economic recovery. According to Statistics Canada, exports of crude oil, bitumen, natural gas and natural gas liquids generated more than CAD 102 billion in 2019. Add in refined petroleum and the total rises to more than CAD 112 billion – about 19 per cent of the revenue from all Canada’s export combined.
