Lisa Baiton, President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers applauds the launch of the federal government’s major projects office and congratulates Dawn Farrell for her appointment as Chief Executive Officer. Her extensive experience in the energy sector leading major projects, including executive leadership, makes her an ideal candidate to oversee significant and complex infrastructure projects with important regulatory and stakeholders’ relations components.
In Canada, over 26 billion Canadian Dollar worth of oil and gas-related major projects are currently under construction with an additional 101 billion in the planning stage. One of the most exciting opportunities for growth in the whole of the Canadian economy would be to expand the emerging liquefied natural gas industry and develop new oil-related projects. More nation-building projects – such as LNG export facilities, pipelines, carbon captures projects offshore and upstream developments – mean more high-quality jobs for Canadians and more opportunities for indigenous partnerships.
Canada ist he fourth-largest oil and fifth-largest natural gas producer in the world. Oil and natural gas are already Canada’s largest export, making up nearly 25 percent of its national total.
As global demand for oil and natural gas remains robust, with many nations striving for access to secure supplies, Canada is well-positioned to meet this demand including associated products. Projections indicate that oil demand will be 100 million barrels per day (mm/bpd) trough 2040, while natural gas demand is expected to reach nearly 4.300 billion cubic metres (bcm) annually.
The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) is a research-based industry association that advocates on behalf of member companies, large and small, that explore for, develop, and produce oil and natural gas throughout Canada.
